A DJ's honest guide to Fargo wedding venues
A venue looks different from behind the DJ booth than it does on a tour. We're a family-run wedding DJ service — DJing Fargo–Moorhead weddings since 2016, family-run since 1980 — and we've set up and played receptions at spots all over the area. This is our honest, working take on the best wedding venues in and around Fargo, ND: the rooms, the sound, and what makes each one worth a look.
There's no single "best" venue — the right one fits your guest count, your budget, and the kind of night you want, whether that's a rustic barn, a polished event center, or something more unusual. The Fargo–Moorhead area has all three. Once you've picked your spot, we'd love to be your Fargo wedding DJ and help you plan the night around it.

Fargo wedding venue questions
What are the best wedding venues in the Fargo, ND area?
Popular Fargo–Moorhead wedding venues include the Avalon Event Center and the Fargo Air Museum in Fargo, The Pines in Davenport, Lone Oak Farm in Ayr, Crooked Lane Farm in Colfax, and Milt's Barn just over in Pelican Rapids, MN. The right one depends on your guest count, budget, and whether you want a barn, a ballroom, or something more unique — we have DJ'd receptions at venues like these across the region.
Are there barn wedding venues near Fargo?
Yes. If you want a rustic-barn feel near Fargo, Lone Oak Farm in Ayr, Crooked Lane Farm in Colfax, and Milt's Barn in Pelican Rapids, MN are all within easy reach of Fargo–Moorhead. Barn venues are beautiful, but it is worth asking about power for the DJ and any outdoor sound or curfew limits before you book.
How much do wedding venues cost in the Fargo–Moorhead area?
It varies widely by season, day of the week, and guest count, so ask each venue for their current packages and what is included. The biggest cost drivers are whether catering and bar are in-house or brought in, and whether you are renting for one day or a full weekend. We do not set venue pricing — but we are happy to share what we have seen from the DJ booth.
Do Fargo wedding venues include catering and a bar?
Some do and some do not. Event centers like the Avalon often have in-house catering and a full bar, while barn and farm venues more often let you bring in your own caterer and bar service. Always confirm what is included so there are no surprises — and ask where the bar sits relative to the dance floor, since that affects how the reception flows.
What should we ask a wedding venue about sound and the DJ setup?
From the DJ's side, the useful questions are: Is there a dedicated power outlet near where the DJ sets up? Are there sound limits or a noise curfew (common at outdoor and barn venues)? Where does the dance floor sit relative to the bar and tables? And what is load-in like — stairs, an elevator, distance from parking? Knowing these ahead of time keeps your reception running smoothly.
Do you DJ at all of these Fargo-area venues?
Yes — we are a family-run wedding DJ service that has played receptions at venues all over Fargo–Moorhead and the surrounding area. Tell us where you are getting married and we will tell you honestly what we know about the room, the sound, and the layout.
